Production: how we make and install sign supports
We make sign supports in a full cycle: steelwork, protective coating, foundation, assembly and installation. Here is how the work goes.
How we make and install supports
1Welding the base
The post is welded to the base plate; triangular gussets add stiffness and offset the lever of a long cantilever.
2Hot-dip galvanising
The structure is dipped into a zinc bath: the coating is even and the support needs no yearly repainting.
3Concrete foundation
The rebar cage and anchors are set with a jig so the plate holes match the anchors exactly.
4Assembly on the ground
The cantilever and the sign are assembled at ground level — safer and more precise than working at height.
5Crane lift
The finished support is lifted as one unit and plumbed with the levelling nuts. Traffic closure is kept to a minimum.
